Successful root canal treatment depends on three main phases, biomechanical preparation of the root canal, disinfection and
obturation. Disinfection of pulp space is an important step during and after cleaning and shaping. Intracanal medicaments are used for
root canal disinfection. It plays a vital role in the success of root canal treatment from the past multivisit to todays single visit
technique in various forms. Recent advances in various fields led to the development of introducing newer medications as well as
modifying the existing ones and their mode of applications.
